Also called dovetail ends, flared ends are a type of sweeping termination to a length of need. Flared Guardrail ends bolt on to the end of a highway guardrail panel section, “flaring” off the length to sweeping 90 degree end. These provide a smoother, rounder finish to the section. These rounded ends also provide a rounded, smooth buffered termination. Rounded ends are also commonly found in parking deck applications, at the end of bridge railings or are sometimes used around areas where pedestrians might be passing by a terminated end section of highway guardrail panel. These sections simply bolt on to the pre-existing section of guardrail panel in the same way as a flared end section.
